What does uname -a say, and the first text while booting say?
Mine changed from 64-something to Generic when I changed "down"
to 32bit.
And I am no Sun-expert either, it's just that I got exactly the same error. It
might exist loads of mistakes to do to get that error, but I've only done one
of them. yet. =)
