Actually, we have already done this.  When the SSH client gets to
the point where it puts up an "Entering interactive session"
message, the broken machine hangs while the working machine
executes the command and then closes the connection.  We've 
compared the output from ssh using the command you mentioned 
above and haven't come up with anything conclusive.  Is there 
anything at all we can turn on at the server side to help track 
this down?
