That doesn't really solve his problem. One, he didn't say he was using
Linux; Two, he is apparently at the mercy of his BOFH and would most likely
not be allowed to test his newly written file system on the box that he is
sharing with the multitudes.
My solution is to buy yourself a $100 PC for Linux and put an 80GB disk ($264!)
in and not worry about storage for a couple of months (Bonus: room for all
those k00l napster downloads) Throw it on the campus network and you're all set.
