Unfortunately entering "Edit Options" requires having valid
authentication. Hence this recommendation is unworkable.

You apparently cannot get your password emailed to you without having a
valid password.
Ordinarily Mailman will send out passwords about once a month but the
installation at GNU is misconfigured and does not do so. Folks are
trapped on this list and do want to leave.
