strange error message

[Ted Irons]

I'm running cvs-1.10.8 on solaris2.8 (with binary
built for solaris2.7) and getting the error message
below.   What does it mean?

cvs checkout: Updating mep/src/Shape
cvs checkout: cannot open directory /volume14/postfix/repo.cvs/postfix/mep/src/Shape: 
Value too large for defined data type
cvs checkout: skipping directory mep/src/Shape
