SEARCH via comments/dates

When committing files to the repository and adding comments, is there some way to search the repo based upon comments entered? Moreover, is there a way to determine what files have been modified/committed to the repo between two different dates, e.g., 09/12/01 and 10/01/01? Thanks in advance, ar2kcm
