Fairly new.

I think you just did :-) To find out *which* version, sign onto
the server and type "cvs -v". Take care to invoke the same cvs
binary as you do from the client (in case the server has more
than one installed in different directories).

mv file.txt file.txt.bak (or just "rm file.txt")
cvs update file.txt
