I just gave it a shot. Apparently it stores commands but not the changes to be uploaded. So if you make multiple changes and multiple commit commands to one file, the first actual commit command will update all the changes to that file. (as far as I can tell). However, this has given me an idea for writing my own shell tool to do what I need.
