What version(s) of CVS are you running? What platform(s)? Local
repository, or client/server? Is the "project" you're checking out a
module defined in the CVSROOT/modules file or an actual directory in the
repository? Can you run the checkout with tracing enabled (the global
-t option) and post the output? It would also be helpful to know the
contents of the CVS/Entries file in the checked-out directory.
