Brian, If you haven't already made a large investment in BugZilla, check out CvsTrac. We have set it up here recently, and it is very easy to configure and use. From a user perspective, it is also a lot less overwhelming. You also get the added bonus of its timeline which views changes chronologically in terms of commits with drill-down.
It is pretty solid too. The only feature I would discourage use of is the cross-referencing to check-in numbers. http://www.cvstrac.org/ and a self-hosting demo at: http://cvs.cvstrac.org/ Regards, Matthew Herrmann -------------------------------------- VB6/SQL/Java/CVS Consultancy Far Edge Technology http://www.faredge.com.au/ -----Original Message----- Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2003 17:04:05 -0600 From: "Brian G. I've scoured the web, without success, so I'll outline what I know so far, and hopefully someone can pick up where I leave off, and point me in the right direction. I've implemented the Bugzilla email gateway, which can use an email to append to a bug report or to change the resolution of a bug. I understand that many people use a cvs loginfo script to send a specially formatted email or call the Bugzilla email gateway script directly. I've found several references to this on various lists, and even in the Bugzilla documentation, but no links to actual code to do this. I've looked at CVSZilla, which integrated an older version of Bugzilla and CVS, and added a web interface on top of things, but this is too heavyweight for my needs, and doesn't work on recent Bugzilla code anyway. So, information from anybody about a cvs loginfo (or other) script to pass information to Bugzilla on cvs commit information would be vastly appreciated. This tool aims to extend typical metrics tools by using the functions of CVS, namely the stored history of source files and associated log files, thereby building up a picture of a development project over time. The tool also allows the comparison of multiple CVS projects. This is also made a lot easier because the files do not have to be inputted, they are already stored by CVS in the repository. In order to empirically test the tool, I have created a web site where you can submit a repository (either your own, or an anonymously accessible repository) for processing and compare it to other repositories. You get to see pretty graphs of the metrics of your project and gauge your software development versus other teams. It's interesting and also rather good fun! The aim of the web site is to collect feedback from developers/others about interesting results generated and results that illustrate good use of the tool. I would be very grateful for any feedback that you may have. The address of WebMets, the web based version of the tool is: http://budvar.crn.cogs.susx.ac.uk/webmets/ Please submit your feedback via the web site or directly to me: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thank you in advance for your time and please forward this message to others who may be interested, Steven Read. --- 3rd Year Finalist - Computer Science with Management Studies, School of Cognitive and Computing Science, University of Sussex, Brighton, UK.
