Some how I got confused by your letter.
1) which type is your CVSROOT, CVSROOT=:ext:machine:/.... ,
CVSROOT=:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/.... or CVSROOT=/....
  your text leaves this confused for me.
2) is the box you are checking out on the NFS server or NFS client?
3) if CVSROOT=:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/...., is /.... on machine actually local
to the machine or an NFS mount?
