I guess my concern is if cvs is running as root, will the ownership of the files within the repository be root when running locally, but the user when logging in remotely. For example, if Joe commits a file when logged on directly to the server box (in which case cvs will not change user to Joe, but rather do its thing as root), will Sally be able to check it out remotely (where cvs is changing user to Sally before doing anything in the tree)?
Perhaps the first question is, does a "change user" occur when running locally? Since you're not changing anything about the executable itself, it will have no effect whatsoever on local users. -Larry Jones ANY idiot can be famous.
