We rtag files with the server name it's deployed on when we deploy it. I.E. when deploying to prod server we rtag the file with 'prod'. That way, we can see what version is installed on what server.
We're looking for a way to capture some additional information about the deployment (when, who, etc.) when we do the deployment (rtag). We think we'd like to use the cvs log (much like the commit -m) when we do the tag.
We know we can use the taginfo to log this information to a separate log, but we were looking for ways to actually log this information with the tagged file.
1) does my explanation make sense 2) what would be some ways to accomplish this?
TIA
