Actually, we don't usually have automated tests for the stuff in
contrib, though I've thought before it might be a good idea.

Peter, if you'd like to contribute these programs in the form of a
patch, with automated tests only if you have time,

start.  Please make sure the programs have prominent GPL license notices.
