cvs by GSoft wrote:
Hello list,
i am a newbie from this list, and sorry at all if my question is a bit
stupid but.. If possible, i have the necessity to link the folder of my
project to the locatione where cvs works. In brief my production site
has a set of various files (html, php and so) and this folder is stored
at different location respect my cvs folder (secutity) where regularly i
/update/commit ecc.
I would like to do a symbolic link between my site folder, and the cvs
repository folder, to permit to update real time any my work of the
site. Is it possible to do this?? Or exist a difefrent method to replace
my suggestion??
Before I attempt to answer your question, a small digression: the
repository is forbidden territory. You only go in there when absolutely
necessary, and when you know what you are doing.
Let me re-phrase your question to see if I understand you correctly.
Basically, you want to have your production area always, and
automatically, contain the latest version that is checked in - is that
right?
If I'm right, then it sounds to me like you want this:
http://ximbiot.com/cvs/manual/cvs-1.11.20/cvs_18.html#SEC177
Also, linking directly to the repository won't help - the files in the
repository are not usable by your web server.
If I'm wrong, then please try to explain it again to us ;=)
