Newbie: Can CVS or Tortoise or WinCVS be changing files originally saved in Unix line end format to PC line end format? If yes, what can I do to prevent this change?
Yes. The CVS client changes line endings of non-binary files to the local system standard. I don't know why you would want to do such a thing, but the cygwin version of CVS may be what you need. When you install, choose the UNIX line ending option. Then when you check out files with that cvs, the line endings will be LF instead of CRLF. It seems to me to be a sure-fire way to get really confused, though. Fred -- Frederic W.
