The reason I ask is that AFAIK the CVSNT client and cygwin cvs client may
(probably) do not interact well together in the same sandbox, AND the messages
below look like you are sharing a sandbox.
running under windows, and not knowing how to set the CVSROOT for cygwin,
makes me believe that you ARE mixing CVSNT and cygwin cvs... you really need
to ask on the cvsnt lists about that, as they see this problem a lot more than
we do:

which OS are you running on? (not sure that xemacs still means you are on
Unix.) Are you running on both windows and Unix?
It looks like at some level (either the client or the server) you are
running CVSNT, and may need to ask on their mailing lists.

Are you trying to share a sandbox between windows and Unix?
(I think that is generally a BAD idea.)
