fwiw: There is PAM support in CVS 1.12.x and I have been told you actually can point a PAM server to ActiveDirectory, so it is possible on a non-Windows host to use CVS rather than CVSNT and still use ActiveDirectory or OpenLDAP as the PAM authentication mechanism.
