Hello,

I have a question related to CVS update. Assume that a repository, say A, exists. There are 5 engineers who have access to this repository. Now, one of these engineers changes one of the files in repository or creates a new directory in the repository. Is there a way to have emails sent automatically to all these 5 engineers whenever a change is made, including information on the type ofchange? Normally, one would have to always do a CVS update on the local copy of the repository to know if some files have been modified.

Regards,

Sharad Sinha.

I don't recall all the details of how, but the answer is yes.
The manual http://ximbiot.com/cvs/manual/ has these pages on the subject:
"Informing others about commits"
http://ximbiot.com/cvs/manual/cvs-1.11.23/cvs_10.html#SEC86
"Loginfo"
http://ximbiot.com/cvs/manual/cvs-1.11.23/cvs_18.html#SEC186
IIRC there is even an fairly extinctive example Loginfo script with the CVS source, which your distribution may have included.
