Someone has 'cvs remove'd the files. Just restore them with 'cvs add'.

Find til newest non-dead version
cvs update -r <last-version> <file>
mv <file> foo
cvs update -A <file>
mv foo <file>
cvs add <file>
cvs commit -m "bring out your dead, bring out your dead" <file>
