Anywhere from 1000-3000 imapds.
Depends on
a) how active your users are
b) having sufficient swap configured
c) having sufficient i/o bandwidth
d) what is considered acceptable performance
e) how similar this is to our solaris setup
version 2.0 should perform better than 1.6 because the mailboxes file
is not a flat file. The main performance problem with linux and cyrus
1.6 was that to be safe, you need to update synchronously and that
really killed performance with ext2.
You may want to look at doc/install-perf.html in the source
distribution for other hints.
