I also agree. But I make an attempt to update whatever documentation
wasn't clear to me when I first read it. I don't see a flood of doc
updates from the people complaining on the list.

This can be done right now. There are three mailing lists to which
these updates can be sent (info-cyrus, cyrus-bugs, cyrus-sasl), and I
think there are enough people listening on the backend to implement well
written suggested text.
