We are doing this with PAM/Winbindd (Samba 3.0.x). From Samba
distribution, pam_winbind and nss_winbind are installed along whit nmbd
and winbindd daemons. SASL authentication is done through PAM
(saslauthd -a pam). This works quite nicely here.
