I have accidentally created quotas on a couple of folders. For example on user.another.afolder, so I have a file: ...cyrusconfig/quotas/a/user.another.afolder.

If I use setquota in cyradm I can "remove the quota", but that just sets a value of "-1" in the quota file. How do I get rid of the quota file? I am reluctant to just delete it in case that creates an inconsistency somewhere. can I just delete the file?

You can just delete it and then run quota -f, which will remove the reference to the quotaroot from all of the affected cyrus.header files.
