CMU sets postuser to "bb", so it would be bb+public

postuser: <empty string> Userid used to deliver messages to shared folders. For example, if set to "bb", email sent to "bb+shared.blah" would be delivered to the "shared.blah" folder. By default, an email address of "+shared.blah" would be used.

Try:

 cm publicfolder
 sam publicfolder anyone p

If in your /etc/imapd.conf you have:

 postuser: bb

Then you would address the mail to

 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you do not set postuser, then you would address the mail as

 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Of course you may have to do other tweaking at the MTA to make sure this mail gets delivered. However, this should not be an issue with LMTP delivery (best).

You may also want to look at the 'sharedprefix' setting in imapd.conf.
