Dear list(s) excuses for cross-posting, but what I have experienced today is really alarming.
I have a kolab-based cyrus installation and I wanted to make the contents of a direcory accessible to a the according user. In order to archieve this I followed the instructions as given here: http://wiki.kolab.org/index.php/Backups_for_kolab2 The problem here was that the mailbox (directory) came from another imap server. Acordingly I deleted the cyrus* files, dumped the mailbox list, added the entry, read it back in. After that, I did a cyrreconstruct -rfx. And I had to notice that a number of emails were completely lost. How can this happen? Obviously, cyrreconstruct really deleted emails!! Has anyone of you seen this before? Does anybody have an explanation? Under which circumstances can emails be deleted by cyrus imapd? Could the imapd client (kmail) have played an evil role? Thanks in advance!
