Hmm. I'm running Thunderbird on my local dev box (Cyrus 2.3 CVS) with allowplaintext:0 and its behaves just fine.Is your client configured for TLS or SSL. It works fine with SSL(the only option pre 1.5). Its the TLS that I have problems with 1.5 ( as I stated earlier, new builds of thunderbird have fixed this issue).
