essentially what's happening here is that apple's sdk has no api connections to calender/tasks/notes/etc -- only contacts.

so without jailbreaking the iphone, the only way to sync without wires is MobileME or exchange.
Not quite, unless I'm mistaken. If all you're interested in is mail, you could just as well configure an IMAP account for your Cyrus server, couldn't you? I thought the only advantage to ActiveSync for mail was push. Am I wrong? Is there more to it?
