I have to press and hold down "Shift"
then "B" and "Backspace" or "DEL" quite quickly afterwards.

If I wait 1 second  then the "Backspace" or "Del" button won´t work.

It works fine for me - I just tried waiting 30 seconds between
pressing B and pressing DEL, no problemo.

because it appears a menu in choosing different options.
So I have to be quicker then this menu appears.
(this menu is for helping choosing options
because I installed "Iciyles" and using the TAB key shows all
possibilities, or simply waiting and this menu opens. It is quite
useful for newbies)

If it means you have to type parts of commands quickly, I'd say it's
detrimental to the user experience...

Yes, it is detrimental
I tried to customize the option for longer delay in "keysee" (from Drew Adams)

M-x customize-option RET kc-auto-delay RET

but it does not work.

Hi, good news

yesterday I changed this option of kc-auto-delay to 3 seconds instead of 1

M-x customize-option RET kc-auto-delay RET

after starting emacs again today,
it worked.

I was able in gnus in the summary buffer pressing "B" waiting 2 seconds and then pressing "DEL or backspace"
and it waited before opening up all the options.

one problem solved

thanks to all for help
