The OS is licensed with the computer if it was bought that way, so a CD of the OS is supposed to be included with the PC.  Might be different if you licensed Windows through a separate source and bought computers with no OS installed.  School property has to be offered for bid when it is to be disposed of unless it is beyond repair.  Maybe a sealed bid process would work.

Subject: [info-tech] selling/giving away older computers

I have about 35 older systems that we no longer use (Pent.II 233s).  We would like to give away/sell cheap to district patrons.  If you have done this at your school district in the past, what is the legality of wiping the hd and installing a copy of Win98 on the system?  I assume we must include a licensed copy of Win98 with the system?
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all the fellow "nerds" out there.  I hope we get all the "coolest" toys for Christmas!
