Hello,

Several videos have recently been returned with a note indicating that there is
no sound. However, when tested here, the sound is fine.

The following information is from Ed Zimmerle, AEA 8's video production
specialist:

If you experience no sound from a videocassette the first step, after checking
the volume control, is to check to be sure that the VCR is set to NORMAL audio
playback and not on STEREO/HI-FI.

There may be a button on your remote control to do this or you may need to
acccess your VCR's menu to manually change from HI-FI/STEREO audio to NORMAL.

More information on this solution may be found at
http://videosuite.blogspot.com/2007/05/picture-but-no-sound.html

In addition, please remember that now is a good time to clean the VCR machines
with a head-cleaning tape. This activity prevents many maintenance problems
for both the machine and for the cassettes.
