Paul-

We have used Audacity, just like Chad in Okoboji. We have
also purchased the microphones that directly connect to the iPod to
allow to do voice recording right to the iPod, with nothing needed.
Quality was great, and it worked pretty well. We had a couple of
situations where they wanted it portable and easy to use. But, Audacity
has done the trick for us as well.

Have you tried Audacity? I am not exactly sure what you're looking to do
besides record and save as mp3 but Audacity should do the trick for you.

Our special ed department is looking at purchasing a couple Ipods to
record tests on for the students. I am in a PC environment and am
wondering what software is being used to replace Garage Band that is
used for the MAC's
