Hey all, We are trying to use l...@edu accounts for email with about 65 students.
We have the site setup, however, the way Microsoft is doing this, if I open up the live accounts, I am also opening up the ability for students to check Hotmail and msn mail, etc. I don't want kids to check their hotmail, I just want the email account I'm giving them to be accessible. Google mail keeps these things separate. We are using lightspeed for filtering, any ideas out there? Somehow Dreamspeak is also a part of this, which has trial software and training. I think I heard the live versions will be free to schools. Don't know how "rich" of an application these will be. Haven't looked at googled docs to have a good comparions. Guess I need to do some more homework on the next snow day. Speaking of such, we still have a few more loads left... They currently have something called workspaces which sharepoint will replace this summer. Skydrive is also in the mix (25 gigs of storage). I haven't completely taken the plunge, so I'm still going by their sale pitches. What the addition of Sharepoint Live for next year, it's a tempting offer. We have a .com we use for our school's web site, so we would not have to entangle our k12.ia.us with the routing. They say it's free, and will remain free, but it is still Microsoft. They have an easy feature to turn off chat, (with google, it is still a struggle). Just throwing this out there...
