I have been a long fan of APC ups units, but recently been discouraged by a
large number of failures. I was also under the assumption that the "SmartUPS"
line was of the "Online UPS" where the power output was always from the
inverter. The "SmartUPS" unit supply line power and will condition the output
power when needed.

I have been using the Cyberpower Dual Conversion On-Line UPS units on a couple
of new installations. These units play well with generators and can handle a
large swing in input voltage and frequency. The software that is enclosed
allow you to setup one server directly connected via USB as a master server.
The software then can be loaded on any number of other computers that will
communicate with the Master server. This allows any number of servers to
gracefully shutdown before the UPS batteries give out without the complications
of the SNMP add-ons required by other UPS vendors.

Also someone gave me this URL.
http://www.upsforless.com/

It looks like there prices are very good.

What are others using for UPS Systems and where did you buy them from? If you
could be fairly specific of what kind of battery backup system you have that
would be great.

Thanks in advance.
