First question: I set their passwords, lock them out of changing them, and
keep them on file. This way, I'm not concerned with bad passwords, and it
allows me to easily log in as them, and check out their account if I need
to. I also make sure that parents have a copy of the username and
password.

Second question: We do reference email in the student agreement(s).
School email is for school-related communication only, no harassment,
threats or bullying, and no using the school address to sign up for
personal websites/services.

Subject: [info-tech] Student Email Addresses

We are finally moving to school sponsored email addresses for our students,
and I have two inquiries to make of the group.

1. Do you keep track of student email passwords in a list, or do you let
them create their own passwords and also change them at will?

2. Did you put anything specific in your AUP concerning student email use?
And if so, what?

Thanks so much for your responses.

Sarah
