It is not known what your fixes exactly do, therefore it is not possible for an outsider to say if there is interest in your improvements. E.g. it is unclear what side effects will happen. I suggest you to prepare some changes, which you think will be useful, and propose to get them upstream. This will have the advantage for you, that in version upgrades in the future, you will not have to patch the source code as much as you do now.
