How are they normally created? Do MUAs like Thunderbird create them?
Some MUAs set the properties, and most modern MUAs in use at my site seem to read them at least.
It's definitely a good idea to create all of the standard folders (Trash, Junk, Sent, and Drafts) and set the specialuse properties when you create the user, otherwise you'll end up with different MUAs creating different folders and you'll end up with a bit of a mess if you use multiple MUAs.
I use a script when I add the user, but the autocreate thing should work too.
