Port 80 is defined by ICANN for the HTTP protocol. By forwarding port 80
from the router to a machine on your network you aren't going to create any
great security problems, just make sure you keep up on all your software
patches.

Subject: * informant * port80

I have a linksys router and it's firewall blocks me from running a web
server. It works if I open up Port 80 (and do other non security stuff) on
the router/firewall and allow http to the particular machine with the web
server software installed.

By allowing port 80 access, how does that affect security on the network.
