Release of detainee:

Could have read, the release of U.S. Spy from China -- and I would not have much to
say. However, this shows that the Chinese are willing to negotiate if we use
civilized methods of negotiation instead of threats.
When you draw a line in the sand, you leave the other side with no alternative but to
defend their honor, even when they know it's political suicide.
Social Studies was one of my favorite subjects in school. The Peoples Republic of
China always keep my interest. I would very much like to visit Beijing during the
Olympics.
I have always admired the Chinese government for the way it handles criminals. Unlike
Criminals in China who pay the price, U.S. prison growth is up 75% in the past 5 years
(according to a recent article I read) and has an open door policy.
In Georgia where I live, there is a prison or YDC (youth detention center) in every
county. The local papers promote it's existence by talking about how many jobs it
supplies to the area and goes on to say it's safe because there are no hard-timers
kept there. To the editor: "Please, give me one ounce of dignity and stop insulting
our intelligence!"
Sometimes the Chinese Socialist Government takes extreme measures to protect it's own
sociological way of life. I think we could learn a lot from China. The earliest forms
of society were run by elders. They wrote laws and rules in which to live by and
carried out some pretty cruel punishment for those who did not... This is basic
survival of the species tactics and I find nothing wrong with this type of society.
We are all "different," that's what makes travel so interesting!
This short Biography of Marco Polo written by a young student in Arizona is very well
put. I especially like the statement, "He wasn't scared of the people in the
different countries he visited."
...and his last words, read it here:
