I read the letter from the businessman in Hong Kong
and I couldn't help but think that, if the story is true, then he is a target.
The arrangement sounds a little too cozy. Just for starters:
He is an American in a communist country. They
have total control over him. They may not like him there, but he is a
source of cash. As long as he is willing to pay off, he will continue to get the
shake down. Who can he complain to?
The workers who complain are always the newly hired
females. I'm sure that they have been taught what to do and look for.
You just get a job and the first thing you
do is get "offended" over something you know the employer has no control over?
Instead of telling him you go straight to the authorities?
The men who continue to click on the ads either are
in on it or they don't care. Anyone who has been on the net for even a short
time can tell spam, especially porno. They aren't that stupid ( I am presuming).
I'm sure they know the consequences of having that stuff on the computers by
now.
Its just a ChiCom version of another corrupt
government shakedown that could happen elsewhere. As long as he coughs up the
cash, he won't go to jail. That threat, though real, is not what they want. It
is just something to terrorize him with and to keep him paying off.
