Hello Friends, I have a problem. I have windows NT 4.0 machine . Last week, I ran one of the free-ware tools available on the internet to clean my registry. I forgot to take a registry back up before that. The freeware utility cleaned whatever registry entries it thought as unnecessary. Now I am in mess. Here is what happens. The NT Explorer shows .EXE files of the type "binary" rather than as "application" as it normally would. if I double click on any EXE file (say notepad.exe), it shows a for " Open with" dialouge box.
I guess, Basically it is not able to recognise EXE files, and don't know what to do with those (i.e. not recognising EXE files as executable code or applications) . I tried running the some of the EXE files thru Start- > Run and they ran successfully. Can some on tell me what is the problem and is there a way to fix it ? - Note I booted the machine 2 to 3 times after this problem and could successfully Boot , without any problems. I could have used the "Last known good menu " option when I booted next time after the problem but it did not strike me , was thinking just booting might fix it up. Any clues ? or there is no other go but to re-install NT ? Thanks to all. ---- * Message Board: http://www.theMezz.com/tech/ post: [EMAIL PROTECTED] url: http://theMezz.com subscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] digest: [EMAIL PROTECTED] notDigest: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ==^================================================================ EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?b1dhsJ.b1LEke Or send an email To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This email was sent to: archive@jab.org T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================
