If I recall, win32 is an app that allows older 16 bit programs to function within the
32 bit environment. Sounds as though you need to start by checking to see what all is
loading at boot.
As ONLY A SUGGESTION (for each computer is different) keep what loads at startup to a
minimum. From your description, ZA is in conflict with something. Try a total remove
and clean out any residual from the registry. Now, re-install ZA and tell it you DO
NOT WANT it to load at start up. Confirm also that the WINXP firewall is disabled.
Next, place a ZA shortcut in your start-up folder on the start menu. That way it will
only load after all other start-up items have seated themselves. Re boot and see if
that helps.

I installed zone alarm (free version) and it would not remember what I told it...
I guess they wanted me to purchase the pro version since I also got
spammed by those ZA people every day.
In any case, I got tired of clicking allow/deny and finally killed ZA, and
installed Conseal. Plus (the free version at least) did not provide enough
information on external hits.
I believe joe may can help you setup the router. Most cable and dsl modems
have some type of built in packet filtering. It should have come with some
type of software to allow you set it up, close ports, deny from certain ips,
etc... so even allow you to telnet to a certain port to setup filtering. Basically,
you want to allow all connections from localhost and localnet, but deny
everyone else. Check the documentation of your cable/dsl router to see you
can filter connections, then go to one of those free scan-me sites and run a
full firewall test.
You may be safe with ZA, but to me it was the most aggravating program I
have ever used. This whole zone alarm thing about protecting one from
himself is a bit too much security for me;)

Subject: creating tables with javascript
I'm creating tables with javascript.
My problem is better explained here:
http://web.infoave.net/~jay/technotesv2/test.htm
That is what I want. Now save the test.htm (I've included the BASE tag so it
should source the .js files from my site). Comment out the second (static)
table and uncomment the second script to let the function create the second
table just like the first one.
You will see my problem then.
I've been working on this too long and can't find the problem. Maybe I'm
missing something and someone here can help me out with this java table
stuff.
If you think the problem is in one of the source files, just download the .js in
the javascript sub-directory and open in a text editor.
TIA
Jay
