Hi all,
We use a service called "Email Advisor" to scan our mail before we send
to check for spam and so on. It runs our email through, among other
things, a bunch of different SPAM filters such as Spam Assassin,
Barracuda Spam Firewall and Declude Junkmail.
Today, I noticed that we're getting flagged as SPAM by Declude Junkmail
because we're failing what they're calling the "CMDSPACE test". The
details from the header are here:
X-RBL-Warning: CMDSPACE: Space found in RCPT TO: command.
X-Declude-Sender: [my bounce mail stripped by me]
X-Note: This E-mail was scanned by Declude JunkMail (www.declude.com)
for spam.
X-Spam-Tests-Failed: CMDSPACE [8]
X-RCPT-TO: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
I've never heard of this problem before, but it would appear that it's
simply finding a space in the RCPT TO: field. I'm passing a query to
cfx_imsMail, so I'm assuming that as long as I strip out any leading
and/or trailing spaces, then I shouldn't run into this problem. Has
anybody else ever heard of this problem? Have I diagnosed it correctly?
Here is a Declude Junkmail manual I found, with a reference to CMDSPACE.
It claims that no legitimate mail server will flunk this test, but
tons of spam servers will, so clearly, it's an important one.

Howie, does iMS trim leading and trailing spaces in recipient before
shipping them out? If not, would it be burdensome to add? Would that
significantly reduce processing speed of iMS?
Thanks,
Ben
