Hi Daryl, Unfortunately, I don't think that gives us anything on the cause. Is anything going on in the post log or does the post service simply stop writing to the logs? How about the CF logs? Could CF be returning an error that is hanging IMS? Never seen it happen, but who knows.
Until you can figure out what is going on, I would suggest adding some sort of monitoring to the post process so that you don't have to wait for users to notify you. There are a bunch of things you can do. I used to have several servers and had each sending emails to each other to make sure things were working. Another option is to send and email out every few minutes and have the delivery templates update a record in the database when the message goes out. Then have a script that checks the database regularly. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. It's been awhile since I have had post issues with IMS. CF is running normally, we know pretty much straight away if there's problem with front end website if there's problem with CF. Most of the time we don't know iMS has hung (although the service says Started) until we get report from users or if I check the queue folder and find out the numbers are not reducing. The machine is dual Xeon 3.4GHz with 3.5Gig ram. >From memory inFusion.exe wasn't taking up CPU either but will note next time >it should happen. Thanks for pointing to Event Viewer. I found this message from previous attempt to stop POST service. I had to restart POST service this morning again but didn't recive this message in Event Viewer. The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( inFusionPOST ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service failed on stop: Invalid pointer operation.
