Subject: [iMS] Threads
This looks normal
to you? I think everyone has the misunderstanding of "threads" I have 255 set.
But at any given time there was avg ( this was around 3:00pm yesterday ) 60
SMTP connection active on my network (using Watchguard Firewall II and
monitoring software )
Your log snippets below show that
all of the threads were delivering mail. Also, I don't see 30000 mail
files in queue - the most in the snippets below is 3012.
Also ... when I
WROTE the message to you howie yesterday I show it being sent out at 11:30am
...but I recived it back at 4:19pm
Yes,
I see the mail receved at our mail server around 4:20. I see that the
mail was received by your server around 5 hours earlier.
I know how the
internet works and speed can only be determined if both sides were able to
have enough bandwidth to support the max output of the servers.. but is it
normal that 30,000 emails takes from 8am to 7pm ?
"Normal" is relative. In this
case, it's relative to your bandwidth, the bandwidth throttling settings of
your server, etc. We have clients delivering hundreds of thousands
of customized emails per hour. I really can't say what is happening at
your end without more information but I will say that the iMS POST Server was
designed with speed in mind and it is very fast. If you want to send me
your configuration dump off-list then I may find some clues in
there.
and is there
a way that we can make priority for bulk mail to be set lower so that OTHER
emails have priority over a bulk mailing?
Yes, you can set the priority from
0 to 9 where 0 is the highest priority.
