Title: Data Template
I've been trying the result=reject in the data templates; seems to work.  The only problem, I have an Exchange server here on our network.  When I send a "banned" email to iMS through Exchange, the Exchange server is seeing the result=reject as a temporary failure, and it keeps resending it until the max resend time expires.

So, for forwarding emails, do you usually store the reference in a database, then have a scheduled process actually send out the email at a later time?  Or do you set the recipients in the RCPT template, and have it go out immediately?  The problem I'm seeing with the immediate solution, is that it is not behaving the way I would like it to for all mail servers.

Thanks.

The user doesn't get the mail unless you send it to them in the DATA template (or you specify them as forwards in the rcpt template).  The DATA template typically stores the message reference in a database. You can also delete the mail file and send error mails in there as well (you result should still be result=accept).

If you say result=reject in the data template then the remote server will get an error message and the mail file will be deleted.

These particular emails are being forwarded, so at the RCTP template, i'm setting the recipients, then the DATA I'm checking for invalid file attachments.  If I accept the email, then the user will get the email with the "banned" file.

1) What can I do in this situation to ensure the recipient will not get the "banned" email if I do the result=accept and do other processing, and
2) What should be the result when I do a result=reject in the data template?  Does the email get deleted automatically?

Thanks Howie!
