The email standard is UTF-7...UTF-8 is for web sites.

Try changing it to UTF-7.

Howie

Subject: [iMS] UTF character problems

Howie

After upgrading to CFMX (6.1) we've had to alter the character encoding in our e-mail
headers from ISO-8559-1 to UTF-8 because of the change in the CF's default encoding.

We're having some problems with extended characters not displaying in Outlook which
appear to be specific to IMS.

Can you (or anyone else) replicate the following test using the code below: if the
mail_text variable is 'Rhr', the u won't appear in Outlook using cfx_imsmail (3,3,1
with Post 2.5.3), ie you see "Rhr", However it works OK when using <cfmail>. The
receiving mail server is Exchange 2000.

If an additional extended character is added eg "Rhr EUR" then the u will display
correctly even with IMS. I'm rather baffled, and it's important for us as we use
extended characters all the time in our e-mail service.

Thanks
Jeremy
