Hi
Best thanks for your great work!
I just gave InitNG a try. It took me only about 20 minutes to download,
compile, install and restart the system. Startup was considerably shorter
(32 instead of 61 seconds from syslogd to kdm_greet).
Inspecting /var/log/syslog a little bit a found the following differences:
- Nothing about the early startup, by the klogd, e.g. Linux version,
Processor, memory info
- May 5 20:42:21 ng system/modules: bash_helper[system/modules]: line 1:
1772 Segmentation fault /sbin/modprobe -q ${MODULE} ${MODARGS}
(This could be alsa module problem of the powerpc)
- May 5 20:42:21 ng system/speedstep: bash_helper[system/speedstep]: line 1:
echo: write error: Invalid argument
- May 5 20:42:24 ng system/console-screen: set_kernel_font: Invalid argument
- May 5 20:46:22 ng
InitNG: "/usr/src/initng-0.6.3/plugins/service/initng_service.c",
timeout_SERVICE_START_RUN() #556 WARN: Timeout for start process, service
system/console-screen. Killing this process now.
I will try to use my system using initng to test, whether everything works.
Best regards
