New description:

In addition to supporting various distributions for adjusting initfiles to
handle specificities of the distributions, some special cases on those
distributions should be considered as well:
Gentoo has a profile adapted for use inside such virtual servers, but
 inside
of vserver a good deal of system configuration operation are simply denied
(capability not available to the virtual server guest).
 - mounting filesystems not permitted
 - setting up network interface not permitted
 - creating device nodes not permitted
 (there may be more limitations)
