With the two recent uploads of sysvinit and insserv, the packages in unstable are able to run with full dependcy based concurrent booting. To enable it, install insserv, activate it by using 'dpkg-reconfigure insserv' and then 'echo CONCURRENCY=makefile >> /etc/default/rcS' to enable concurrent booting.
I am very interested in bootchart benchmarks from before and after this is done. There are some bugs in this mode, which we hope to solve this summer. So be careful to only test the expermental makefile-style concurrency on a test machine.
